Lamar University (LU) is a public university located in Beaumont, Texas. As with previous responses, please note that my knowledge is current up to September 2021, and some information may have changed since then.
1. History: Lamar University was founded in 1923 as South Park Junior College. In 1932, the college became a four-year institution and was renamed Lamar College in honor of Mirabeau B. Lamar, the second president of the Republic of Texas. The college achieved university status in 1971 and became part of the Texas State University System in 1995.
